Fashion Accessories: How to Wear a Silk Scarf this Summer
While scarves used to be worn only during the winter, they are now worn as fashion accessories for men and women with suits and dresses. Try our following advice on wearing a scarf this summer as a fashion accessory.
Style: Scarves in Fashion Today
Silk scarves in fashion today add to a retro, european style. Men will wear silk scarves around their neck to accompany an overcoat or tuxedo. Women also wear scarves around their necks but they also tie scarves in their hair and around purse handles.
How to Wear a Summer Scarf
Silk scarves are a popular choice for a summer scarf. As the summer months are hot and humid, the lightness and breathability of silk makes for a comfortable scarf.
Because of the warm weather, you will probably want to wear your scarf on the outside of your clothing, over summer dresses, tanktop, dress shirt or t-shirt. For this reason you should go with a simple knot like the drape or a loose once around knot to keep your neck exposed and cool. You can also tie thicker knots that go around the neck like an infinity scarf, though it is important to wear a light scarf in the summer so your neck doesn’t become too hot.

Nathon Kong Collaboration with MissMe and Maison Flora Tristan: Creating a Designer Scarf with Purpose
At Nathon Kong, we create art that has a story and purpose woven within it. We believe that what you wear is meaningful, expresses who you are, and can be a vector for change.
In the past we collaborated with Montreal artist MissMe to create an artwork that would be printed on a limited edition mulberry silk scarf. The scarf promotes awareness for women suffering from domestic, physical, and mental abuse. Nathon Kong donated all proceeds made from the scarves to the Maison Flora Tristan women’s shelter.
Nathon Kong continues to create art that is fashionable and supports the community. Our current collection of scarves incorporates art made by members of Les Impatients. Les Impatients is a non profit organization that supports artists suffering from mental health issues through therapeutic art programs. 10% of all proceeds made from the scarves are donated to Les Impatients so that they can continue to support these artists.
When you wear a Nathon Kong art piece, you wear the story of an artist’s journey to mental health recovery.
Buy a unique printed 100% silk scarf here with art signed by the artists Bill Market and Sergio Larenas, members of Les Impatients. Each designer scarf is made in limited edition, only 100 unique pieces of each print, and are sent numbered in a gift box with certificate of authenticity.
