Prevent Disaster When Choosing Men's Wedding Suit
The groom's suit is usually the last thing anyone considers when planning a wedding. This can be dangerous.
Don't forget about the wedding suit.
There are actually many decisions you have to make with regard to choosing a wedding suit for men. We will provide a few pointers here, but know the best wedding suit for grooms can be different for every wedding.
Nathon Kong can help you choose the perfect wedding suit for a groom, no wedding planner required. As an expert with wedding suits and tuxedos, Nathon can give you advice on the fabrics, colour, and styles that go best with weddings.
1. How Long Does it Take to Make a Men's Wedding Suit
What would be a disaster is if your groom's tuxedo or wedding suit isn't ready in time. It can take 4 to 6 weeks from a groom's first visit to a tailor to receiving the suit, and you never know what adjustments might be needed to get the fit just right. You should plan ahead and book an appointment with a tailor many weeks before the wedding.
2. Don't Outshine the Bride
If you're going for a more traditional wedding, you should know these ceremonies prioritize attention on the bride (for example, many ceremonies have the groom already at the altar while the bride slowly walks up to the altar, accompanied by music). Brides and grooms should coordinate with each other on what dresses and suits they choose to wear on their wedding day to avoid stepping on each other's toes.
3. Stand out From the Groomsmen
You want to recognize the groom from the groomsmen.
While we don't want the groom's suit or tuxedo to outshine the bride, men should choose a suit that is distinct from the groomsmen's. A custom suit can help with that. Grooms should speak with their groomsmen to make sure they don't wear a suit that is too similar.
4. Choose the Best Fabric for the Season
The groom's suit should be comfortable. What fabric you choose to achieve this comfort depends on the season.
Choose the perfect fabric for your suit
Wool or some mix of wool fabric work especially well for autumn or winter weddings. In the summer, many grooms find their fabric choices are much more flexible. Men's wedding suits can be made out of wool, silk, or really any blend of fabric that is elegant. Grooms should talk to their tailor about what would be right for their wedding.
5. Bespoke Lining that Fits Your Wedding
What can really add that personal touch to a men's wedding suit is choosing a piece of artwork that goes well with the wedding. At Nathon Kong, we incorporate exclusive artworks into the lining of our bespoke wedding suits.
Every wedding suit has a unique artwork (Photo Credit: Ophélie Boisvert).
Each artwork is created by a participant of Les Impatients, a non-profit organization supporting people with mental health troubles through therapeutic art programs. Nathon Kong donates 10% of all proceeds to Les Impatients and other local non-profits to give back to the community.
When you wear Nathon Kong, you aren't only wearing a suit, but a story of mental health healing and support.
